Frequently Asked Questions
A. Getting Tattooed in Pattaya (Context & Trust)
Getting a tattoo in Pattaya can be safe, but safety standards vary significantly between studios. Some shops operate informally with inconsistent hygiene or sterilization practices. Travelers should choose studios that use single-use needles, medical-grade sterilization, and documented hygiene procedures. Lethal Ink Tattoo operates as a licensed studio and follows these standards.
Tattooing in Thailand falls under public health regulations, but enforcement is inconsistent and not all studios operate formally. This means responsibility often falls on the customer to verify hygiene standards. Licensed studios with visible sanitation procedures and clear policies provide a higher level of safety for both locals and tourists.
English communication is not guaranteed across all tattoo shops in Pattaya, as many primarily serve local clients. Limited communication can lead to misunderstandings around design, pricing, or aftercare. Studios that regularly work with international clients typically provide clear English communication throughout the process.
Rather than choosing based on price or location alone, look for clear evidence of hygiene practices, healed-work portfolios, transparent pricing, and the ability to explain procedures confidently.
B. Pricing, Deposits & Time
Tattoo prices depend on size, detail, placement, and time required. Extremely cheap tattoos often reflect compromises in experience, hygiene, or materials. Professional studios explain pricing clearly before work begins.
Both pricing models are common. Hourly pricing is typically used for larger or custom tattoos, while fixed pricing may apply to smaller designs.
Small tattoos may take under an hour, while larger or more detailed tattoos can take multiple hours or sessions.
Same-day tattoos are sometimes possible for smaller designs, depending on availability. Larger custom tattoos usually require advance booking.
C. Design, Custom Work & Walk-ins
Yes. Clients can bring references or existing designs. Artists may suggest adjustments to improve placement or longevity.
Custom tattoo design is common. Designs are created collaboratively based on the client’s idea, placement, and style.
Design time depends on complexity. Simple designs may be finalized quickly, while detailed custom work may take longer.
Walk-ins are accepted when availability allows. To accommodate walk-in customers, Lethal Ink Tattoo maintains junior artists in the shop to assist with walk-in tattoos. Booking ahead is still recommended during busy periods or for specific artists and custom work.
D. Healing, Swimming & Travel
Swimming is not recommended during the initial healing phase. Pools and oceans increase infection risk.
Initial healing usually takes 7–14 days, while full healing can take several weeks.
Flying does not interfere with tattoo healing, but the tattoo should be protected during travel.
Travel is possible, but extra care is required to protect the tattoo from sun, water, and friction.
E. First-Time Tattoo Concerns
Some discomfort is normal. Pain levels vary depending on placement and individual tolerance.
Eat a proper meal and stay hydrated. Avoid alcohol and drugs before your appointment.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area.
At Lethal Ink Tattoo, every tattoo begins with a thorough consultation. Once the design process starts, clients are offered up to two additional revision rounds to ensure the design meets expectations before tattooing begins.
F. Booking & Policies
Appointments can be booked by messaging the studio or by walking in for a consultation. A deposit is then paid to secure the appointment and begin the design process.
All booking deposits are non-refundable. Rescheduling is possible with at least 72 hours’ notice, subject to availability.
Yes. Lethal Ink Tattoo offers one free touch-up within six months of the original tattoo, provided proper aftercare instructions were followed.
